I have put a photo of me on the front cover this month in a play by Mark Casson, produced by 3bCreative playing the part of a Gnome along with John McMahon, in Two Gnomes, A Fishing Pole And A Crusty Tale, just to say that theatre on the Sunshine Coast has started. All performances were intended to be outside with a maximum of fifteen in the audience but unfortunately the weather beat us and the Sunday performances were held in the foyer of Buderim Memorial Hall. It has been highly successful with very appreciative audiences.
Maleny Players will also be starting with our first production of the year at the end of August/September. Today we have been selecting plays for our first production, which will be radio plays all locally written. We will hopefully look to putting on another production at the end of October/November and then in December. It is hoped that we will be able to bring you the Three One Act play that were planned for the beginning of May. We are working hard to get ‘Live’ theatre back in Maleny.
We started early in the Covid-19 shut down with on-line play readings and now we are having them in the Playhouse. We have now had two at the Playhouse which have been well attended, our next play reading is on Thursday evening at 7.00pm. Jill Morris’s Coffee, Cake and Play Reading started last Friday and will continue each month on the last Friday at 9.30am.
All of this of course depends on the legislation regarding restrictions at the time but again we are planning with the restrictions being no worse than at the present time to be able to bring you first class live theatre from your community theatre.
